University Statute: Admissions, Enrollment & Graduation
ARTICLE 1
 This system is designed to regulate: 
 I. The admissions process, registration, re-
enrollment, retention and low student 
 University; 
 II. The recognition of studies and the establishment of equivalence of study completed 
 institutions of higher education in the country or abroad, and processes 
 accreditation of courses taken in the different curriculum itself 
 University; 
 III. The evaluation of the learning process of students studying in the 
 University; 
 IV. The process of granting degrees, diplomas and degrees of expertise 
 students who have completed their studies at the University; 
 V. The legal basis for educational programs and curricula that are taught 
 University; 
 VI. Service programs to the students and the university academic support 
 available to students, and 
 VII. The basis for the academic and administrative organization of education programs 
 offered by the University continuously. 
ARTICLE 2
 The observance of this statute shall be binding on all authorities, 
 civil servants, academics, clerical workers, students and graduates 
 University, which will release its content by all means at their disposal. 
 Against the observance of this statute can not plead ignorance, obsolescence or practice 
 otherwise. 
ARTICLE 3
 For purposes of this statute shall apply: 
 I. Accreditation of Education: the determination of the similarities between the academic units 
 for learning plans and curricula of their own 
 University; 
 II. Admission: the process involving the applicant’s timely attention to the calls 
 issued for such purpose the University, compliance with the conditions 
 in them, and the admission notice in his case is made; 
 III. Students: Persons who have been admitted in accordance with the procedure established 
 in this statute, an educational program of the University, provided that no 
 Final nor have left yet obtained the title, diploma or degree specialty 
 academic question; 
 IV. Special students are those who enroll in the University in terms of 
 student exchange or one or more courses of so-called free or special 
 but without the right to obtain a degree or diploma; 
 V. Students irregular: regular students who do not have regular status; 
 VI. Regular students: those enrolled in the University in order to study 
 aimed at obtaining a diploma, degree or university degree 
 VII. Regular students: regular students who have demonstrated each and every one of 
 learning units that are registered in the previous school periods, 
 according to the curriculum in force; 
 VIII. Subject: course curriculum consists of value-related issues as elaborated 
 comprehensive and sequential to meet certain objectives in a curriculum; 
 IX. Applicants: Those who have applied for admission to any educational program 
 offered by the University through the channels established in this statute; 
 X. Coordination: Coordination of Student Services and School Management; 
 XI. Coordination: The coordination and management of Student Services School of 
 Basic Education, Vocational Training and Outreach College and Graduate 
 and Research, jointly or separately; 
XII. Course: a combination of teaching techniques for individual or group, whose 
 purpose is learning new skills or update existing 
 a specific theme; 
 XIII. Department: Department of Student Services and Campus School Management 
 appropriate; 
 XIV. Higher Education Unit (DES): an assembly of several academic units 
 for the mutual reinforcement of corporate goals; 
 XV. Diploma: educational plan which aims to update knowledge and / or 
 promote professional development of qualified human resources in different 
 disciplines, whose studies do not confer academic degrees; 
 XVI. Doctoral degree: bachelor’s degree education program is the highest awarded by the University, 
 and aims to prepare researchers to develop research 
 original independently or in teams, so as to permit the advance of 
 knowledge; 
 XVII. Graduates: students who obtained their certificate of studies have been completed and covered 
 total credits of a curriculum; 
 XVIII. Equivalency studies: the procedure whereby recognition is given 
 studies completed and approved by higher education institutions other than the 
 University and as part of the national education system 
 XIX. Specialization: educational program that aims to update and / or expand 
 student’s skills and develop abilities and skills required in 
 practice of a specific area of knowledge, from an eminently 
 applicable, which is one further academic in training 
 professionals; 
 XX. Alumni: People who had the last time as students, regardless 
 have graduated or obtained the title, academic degree or diploma concerned; 
 XXI. Registration: the administrative process by which the student registered at University 
 in a particular educational program; 
 XXII. Degree: professional studies are performed after high school or 
 equivalent, whose purpose is to provide students an ethical and cultural training, enabling 
 scientifically and technically in the field of study relevant to 
 that, as professionals, can provide useful services to society; 
 XXIII. Master-oriented research: an educational program aimed 
 give students an ethical and theoretical skills, technical and methodological 
 by driving the development of scientific research, humanistic or development 
 technology; 
 XXIV. Career-oriented Master: The educational program aims to give 
 students with an ethical and theoretical skills, techniques and methodologies for the 
 solve specific problems with a comprehensive view in his practice; 
 XXV. Mixed or blended learning mode: it is one that combines the various forms 
 existing education to achieve the desired learning; 
 XXVI. Non-face mode: mode of education that develops outside the classroom and 
 likely to meet the availability and needs of each student based 
 programs open and distance education; 
 XXVII. Modality: type of education that takes place in classrooms, workshops and 
 laboratories and across rooms, practice and school visits, technical and vocational 
 at times and certain periods; 
 XXVIII. Curriculum: the reference synthetic, schematic and structured units 
learning or other forms of education, is the guide for accreditation 
 for students who met the income profile, to achieve the objectives and 
 graduate profile referred to therein; 
 XXIX. Postgraduate programs: the studies are conducted after a degree in the 
 specialty programs, master’s or doctoral degree, and that are intended to form 
 highly trained professionals to the scientific solution of problems 
 faces professional practice and for the training of teachers and researchers 
 with high academic standards; 
 XXX. Joint graduate programs are those involving more than one unit 
 University academic, with capacity to offer a graduate program, 
 linking the academic resources, infrastructure and lines of work or research, 
 to expand the supply of graduate quality; 
 XXXI. Agency joint degree programs: those in which the University and 
 one or more universities of the country or abroad, with academic ability to offer 
 a graduate program quality, join their academic resources, infrastructure and 
 lines of work or research, in order to expand the supply of graduate quality; 
 XXXII. Program unit of learning: a description of the contents of a synthesized 
 learning unit provided for in the curriculum, structured in a relevant, 
 which also includes teaching resources, bibliographic and electronic indispensable 
 with which to develop the educational process; 
 XXXIII. Training Program: a joint plan or curriculum, physical infrastructure, administrative, 
 human and financial resources, operational and management mechanisms, and all 
 those elements that contribute to its proper functioning and justify the 
 University integrate it as part of its educational services; 
 XXXIV. Re-registration: the administrative process by which students enrolled in a 
 formalized educational program to continue their studies in each school year; 
 XXXV. Revalidation of Education: the procedure by which recognition is given 
 studies completed and approved by higher education institutions abroad; 
 XXXVI. Seminar focused on delivering the experience of a group learning from its 
 own interaction on selected topics, where participants bring to the seminar 
 their knowledge and experience in a particular theme, coordinated by a moderator; 
 XXXVII. Workshop: experiential approach to skills which aims to develop 
 skills from the exercises, where the tasks are proposed by 
 the coordinator to guide and accompany the participants, assisting in the process; 
 XXXVIII. Senior technical university (TSU) are the technical level studies resulting from 
 partial studies of a degree, which will enable students to quickly enter 
 the work force and save the effort of those for different reasons 
 not completed a degree program; 
 XXXIX. Step school means of administrative management to be made by a student before the 
 department, in order to maintain or to state such a condition, unsubscribe, graduation, 
 obtain the certificate, diploma or degree for studies or any 
 another similar; 
 XL. Academic Unit: colleges, schools, institutes and centers authorized University 
 by the University Council, to provide educational programs, 
 XLI. Learning unit: the functional component of the curriculum that offers a set 
organized and scheduled activities and learning experiences and has a 
 credit value. They are the subjects, workshops, seminars, professional or 
 research, and in general, any experience led to student learning and 
 the achievement of the graduate profile referred to in the curriculum; 
 XLII. University: Autonomous University of Baja California. 
ARTICLE 4
 The graduates, seminars, courses, workshops and similar activities which are not 
 part of the curriculum will be covered by this statute and the provisions 
 complementary in this regard issued by the rector. 
ARTICLE 5
 The Rector shall approve the school calendar, considering the opinion of the vice-chancellors 
 and directors of academic units. The school calendar shall be considered as binding 
 throughout the University for each marking period, and must be published in due course 
Gaceta Universitaria. 
ARTICLE 6
 The school calendar shall include: 
 I. Periods of admission, registration, induction courses, re-enrollment, low, accreditation, 
 revalidation and equivalency studies; 
 II. The class period; 
 III. Exam periods regular, special, regularization and skills; 
 IV. The period of school holidays and day suspension of classes, and 
 V. The evaluation period teacher student opinion. 
ARTICLE 7
 Prohibited the suspension of classes at the University outside of the dates and 
 periods expressly stated in the school calendar. Only in extraordinary cases or 
 force majeure, the principal may authorize the suspension of classes throughout the University, or any 
 campus academic units. 
ARTICLE 8
 For the development of its activities, the coordination work with departments 
 on each campus, which will be in charge of a chief, which in turn is under the 
 immediate direction of the Vice Chancellor, as appropriate, without violating university regulations 
 applicable. 
ARTICLE 9
 Coordination, through the departments, will be the only agency authorized 
 to issue and record documents certifying the studies conducted by students. 
ARTICLE 10
 Coordination and their respective departments are entrusted only 
 administrative functions and therefore not be entitled to make decisions 
 relate to academic and university authorities in their 
 respective areas of duties, in accordance with the provisions of the General Staff and 
 this ordinance. 
ARTICLE 11
 Applications for school paperwork must be submitted directly 
 with the department or electronically through the established University system. 
 Applicants will receive advice from University staff for procedures 
 school. 
ARTICLE 12
 The school procedures will be carried out personally by the applicant in 
 dates and times specified by the school calendar. 
 In the case of school procedures by their nature do not necessarily require 
 individual concerned may be carried out by a representative of the former. Such representation

 is made electronically. 
 ARTICLE 13. The University at any time, investigate the authenticity of documents 
received during any school process. When checking the total misrepresentation or 
 part of a document, coordination shall immediately give the final floor at the University 
 the student responsible, without prejudice to other legal liabilities that it had 
 incurred. In such cases, the University report the incident to authorities. 
 Will be subject to legal consequences set out above, students 
 submitting false documents where it appears the university as issuing institution before any 
 instance, and for any purpose. 
ARTICLE 14
 The director may issue supplementary provisions as may be required to 
 in order to provide academic and administrative sphere strict compliance 
 contained in this law. 
ARTICLE 15
 Any situation not covered by this statute will be resolved by the rector, 
 consultation with relevant bodies, on the fundamental rule that the student 
 is the center of university activity, and it’s mission and duty to provide the University 
 same education of good quality and in accordance with the educational program that is 
 registered. 
 
ARTICLE 16
 The University will establish its educational offerings, the criteria for admission of its 
 students and the growth rate of enrollment, in accordance with Development Plan 
 Institutional and the provisions of this statute. 
ARTICLE 17
 To be admitted as a student of the University, the applicant shall abide 
 a considered selection process, equity and transparency, skills, abilities, 
 skills, academic abilities and health conditions of the applicant which do not pose 
 risk to the individual or the community, enabling them to conduct studies of higher technical level 
 university undergraduate or postgraduate request. 
ARTICLE 18
 The call for the selection of applicants to enter the 
 different educational programs at the University will take place from time to time authorize the 
 rector, but in the case of undergraduate programs will convene at least once every year. 
ARTICLE 19
 The rector, hearing from the vice-chancellors and heads of units 
 academic, authorize the number of local and foreign applicants may be admitted to a 
 program of education or common stock at each incoming call, taking into account 
 the availability of physical and human resources to ensure good quality of programs. 
Article 20
 To be admitted as a special student of the University is not required to participate 
 in the competition for selection, but in any case the income shall be subject to that 
 meets the requirements of the additional provisions in this area 
 issued by the rector, and the share of the educational program. 
ARTICLE 21
 Applicants may be admitted as regular students of the University 
 where the entry is proposed by an institution in agreement, that has previously submitted 
 a selection process, adherence to eligibility criteria established in the Convention itself, 
 and if permitted by the quota program is intended to take. 
ARTICLE 22
 Complementing the selection process, there will be a Committee on Equity, 
 which will integrate and operate in accordance with supplementary provisions 
 issued by the rector, which may make the admission of candidates in education programs when 
 space permits, attending social equity considerations, humanitarian, health and others that the 
 committee deems appropriate. 
ARTICLE 23
 To participate in the selection process to enter the University are required to: 
 I. Apply for admission in accordance with the notice issued by the University; 
 II. To enter the degree, submit the original certificate of high school education 
 or constancy of studies showing that the applicant is enrolled in the 
 high school last school year; 
 III. For postgraduate studies, the original certificate of previous studies; 
 IV. To cover the share of the tab to the selection examination. The fee referred not 
 refundable; 
 V. No final ceasing of the University, and 
 VI. Other requirements to be determined for the additional provisions. 
ARTICLE 24
 Those who have met the requirements of the preceding article 
 department will get the tab for the selection examination. Obtaining such 
 tab is only entitles the person concerned to participate in the selection examinations on the dates, 
 locations and times indicated in the document itself. 
ARTICLE 25
 Coordination related in decreasing order of candidates according to their 
 academic merit, and notify applicants for admission to the first relationship to 
 exhaust the quota of the program, provided that the result obtained by the applicant not less than 
 the figure previously given by the rector and the academic unit. 
 Notification of acceptance to applicants are made on the terms indicated in the call 
 respectively. 
ARTICLE 26
 The academic merit of applicants referred to the previous article, 
 quantitatively determined, taking into account the average weighted combination 
 scores overall educational attainment, the results of tests for selection, 
 personal interviews and any other factors that are fixed in the incoming call. 
 ARTICLE 27. Other things being equal, the University will give preference for admission to 
 graduates of educational institutions of the state of Baja California with respect to whom they are not; 
 to new students, for those who choose to make a program change 
 educational programs simultaneously or pursue a second program, and seeking entry 
 as regular students, compared to those who aspire to become a special student. 
ARTICLE 28
 Applicants admitted as students of the university, for that fact alone 
 acquire the rights and obligations under the Basic Law, the General Staff, and 
 This statute, applicable regulations and university rules. 
ARTICLE 29
 Shall be deemed waived his status as student, who was admitted, 
 does not comply with the registration process referred to the following article for 
 the school term for which he was admitted.
