Mr/ Mrs White were waiting sergeant Major Morris. When he was young he has worked in the warehouse but he had gone to India. He had lived in India for 21 years.

Sergeant Mayor Morris told them that an old fakir, that is, a holy man had put a spell on the monkey´s paw so that tree different men could each have three wishes from it. He wanted to show that fate ruled people´s lives and he wanted to let people know that if you made something to interfere whit fate, it would only bring you a deep sadness.

He got the paw because the previous owner had died. His third wish had been for death and that´s how the sergeant got it- He had already made three wishes and according to him all of them had come true. He was respectful towards the paw. He felt a great respect and he advised the whites that if they were going to wish for something, it should something reasonable because he knew that wishes would come true.

Mr White wished for two hundred pounds to finish paying for his house. When he made the first wish, the paw twisted in his hand like a snake. He found it difficult to decide what to wish for because he felt that he had everything he wanted.

The strange man at the gate was a bill, he brings a very painful news, the death of Herbert. He died trapped in the machinery and died in the same moment therefore he did not suffer.

The firm didn´t feel responsible for what had happened. They offered the Whites two hundred pounds as a compensation for the years Herbert had been working there.

He reacts in a state of shock, her face was pale, finally the expression on Mr White´s face was dark and serious.

Her husband was afraid of this because teir son had been dead for ten days and before being buried, when he had the accidente, he was mutilated bu the machinery and he could only recognize him buys his clothes. He didn´t want that her to get out of the bedroom, because Herbert could enter in the house and Mr white was frightened about the aspect that could have his son.

The master was a man who studied the supernatural.
He studied spirits, ghost and specters. He lived in such an isolate place because scientist and philosophers had laughed at him and had destroyed his reputation. He had forgotten the world and the world had forgotten him.

No, he didn´t have to walk back to Dwolding. He could get the night mail coach from the north that went to Dwolding and Jacob was going to guide him to a crossroads where he could get on the coach that would take him to the place where his wife was waiting for him.

He told him to be careful because the road near the signpost was steep and narrow. He warned him to be careful especially near the signpost because the stone wall was broken and it hadn´t been repaired since the accident.

In the coach were travelling four passengers. The coachman, the guard and an outside passenger died too.

The passengers has got eyes glowed an unnatural red. His face was as purple as a corpse and his lips were pulled back as if in the agony of death, showing his bright teeth
