Advance in Technology: Good or Bad?
Technological Progress and Benefits
H4: Easing Life and Work
Advance in technology makes life easier, signifying progress. This is evident at home and in various work areas. For example, manufactured products in industry are produced in a better way. Computers and mobiles have improved to make communication and transport easier and safer. Furthermore, thanks to rapid technological advancement, there are new advantages in medicine, and nowadays people live in better conditions.
The Divide: Rich Versus Poor
H4: Unequal Access to Innovation
Every year, rich countries spend large sums of money on new technology, which is primarily used by the wealthy. But what about poorer people? They often lack the opportunity to buy new mobiles or cars. While these people are starving and trying to survive, others are buying new phones to be the best and make the most use of modern devices.
A Call for Responsibility
H4: Global Priorities
In my opinion, rich countries should make an effort to help poorer ones instead of spending their money on new technology or fighting amongst each other, which costs a lot of money. It is good that we should investigate and bring out new products, but we must also think about our Planet Earth and ways of protecting it from contamination.
Test-Tube Babies and Genetic Manipulation
Designer Babies and Selection
Today, science has developed to the point where ‘designer’ babies and genetic manipulation have become common. Couples can choose the type of baby they want, for example, fair babies with blue eyes or dark-skinned ones with brown eyes. In addition, they can even select the level of intelligence of their babies.
Potential Medical Advantages
Perhaps it is a good idea that a baby is born free from the great number of possible genetic influences from their parents. Things carried down, like diabetes, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s disease, can be avoided thanks to modern science and test-tube babies. Maybe the day will come when we do not have to worry about any deformed babies.
Ethical Concerns and Realities
But, actually, for what is all this? Will everything really change with this new technology? I suppose not, because so many young people unnecessarily lose their lives in car accidents. Many people are dying in the other half of the planet because they do not have anything to eat or lack medical care.
Abortion and Science
Science Facilitating Choice
Again, science plays an important role in making it possible for people who want to have an abortion and be free from responsibilities that they think they should not undertake. Day by day, more and more young girls are becoming pregnant, and to be able to lead a normal life, the unwanted baby is in the way. So, an abortion seems to be the only solution, and here science has done a good job.
