Practical School Writing Exercises and Instructions

A. Writing Paragraphs

1. An Educational Tour

An educational tour is a trip taken to gain practical knowledge outside the classroom. Last month, our school organized an educational tour to Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha. We visited the Maya Devi Temple, the Peace Pagoda, monasteries and the sacred garden. Seeing the historical monuments and learning about Buddha’s life made the tour very meaningful. We also interacted with monks who taught us about peace and compassion. The journey with friends and teachers was enjoyable and full of learning. It is memorable because it helped us understand history more clearly than books and gave us a chance to explore a beautiful place together. This tour became one of the best experiences of my student life.

2. Dowry System

The dowry system is a social practice in which the bride’s family must give money, property or gifts to the groom’s family during marriage. I do not support this system because it is unfair, harmful and against human dignity. Many girls face discrimination, violence and even the risk of not getting married due to dowry demands. This system creates a financial burden on poor families and encourages inequality. To remove dowry, we should raise awareness, enforce strict laws and promote simple marriages. Educated youths must reject dowry and respect women as equal partners. Ending this system will help create a just, happy and peaceful society for future generations.

3. My Native Village

My native village is located in a peaceful rural area surrounded by green hills and fertile fields. It has a population of about five thousand people who live together in harmony. Most villagers are farmers and grow crops such as rice, wheat, maize and vegetables. The climate is pleasant, with warm summers and cool winters. People of different religions like Hindu, Buddhist and Muslim live here with mutual respect. The village has basic facilities such as a health post, schools, small shops and good drinking water. It is especially known for its natural beauty, traditional festivals and friendly people. I feel proud of my village because it is simple, clean and culturally rich.

B. Interpreting Charts and Lists

1. Distribution of Workers by Age Group

The chart shows the distribution of workers of ABC steel factory according to four age groups. In the 40–50 age group, there are 25 men and 15 women, indicating a moderate number of experienced workers. The 30–40 category has slightly higher participation, with men exceeding women. Most of the workers belong to the 20–30 age group, where both male and female counts peak, suggesting that the factory relies heavily on young and energetic staff. The 15–20 group has the fewest workers, showing minimal early entrants. Overall, the chart highlights that younger workers dominate the factory workforce, while older groups contribute steadily to its production capacity and help maintain consistent output across all departments.

2. Unnati’s Study Time Allocation

The pie chart shows how Unnati divides her study time among different subjects. It is clear that she gives the greatest amount of time to Maths, which occupies 20% of her schedule. Science and Accounts come next, each taking 15%, showing that she considers them important and gives them more attention than other subjects. Computer, Social, English, Nepali, and HPE are all given equal time, with each subject receiving 10%. This indicates that Unnati tries to maintain a balanced study routine while still prioritizing the subjects she finds more challenging or significant. Overall, her timetable reflects a thoughtful distribution of time that helps her manage all subjects effectively and stay consistent.

3. Price List at Karun Suppliers

Interpreting Charts: The chart presents the price list of various commodities available at Karun Suppliers. Among the items, mutton is the most expensive, costing Rs. 900 per kilogram, followed by chicken at Rs. 510 and lentils at Rs. 350. Rice and fish are moderately priced at Rs. 160 and Rs. 120 respectively. Onions and maize fall in the lower price range, costing Rs. 80 and Rs. 70 per kilogram. The cheapest item on the list is potato, priced at only Rs. 60 per kilogram. This chart helps customers compare prices and choose items according to their budget. It also shows that basic vegetables are much cheaper than meat products, while some items have nearly similar price levels.

C. Instructions and Directions

1. Making Rice Pudding

To prepare delicious rice pudding, first leave a handful of rice grains in a bowl of clean water for some time to let them soften. While the rice is soaking, cut some nuts such as almonds, cashews, or pistachios into small pieces and keep them aside. After the rice grains swell, heat a pot and boil an adequate amount of milk. When the milk starts boiling gently, pour the swollen rice into it. Continue boiling the mixture on mild heat so the pudding does not burn. Stir it slowly and regularly until the rice becomes soft and the mixture thickens. Add nuts and sugar before serving warm.

2. Making Tea for Six People

To make tea for six people, begin by measuring five cups of clean drinking water and pour it into a suitable pot. Place the pot on the stove and allow the water to boil well. When it starts boiling, add an appropriate amount of tea leaves along with tea spices such as ginger, cardamom, or cloves according to your preference. Let the mixture boil for a few minutes so the flavor blends properly. Now pour enough milk for six cups of tea into the pot and let it boil again. Leave it for some minutes on low heat. When the tea becomes ready, strain it into cups and serve hot.

3. Preparing Chapati

To prepare soft and tasty chapati, first take flour in a bowl and slowly add water to make a smooth dough. Knead the dough well until it becomes elastic and soft. Cover it and let it rest for a few minutes. After that, make dough balls of proper and equal size for even chapatis. Dust each ball lightly with flour and roll them using a rolling pin to make thin, round chapatis. Heat a flattened pan on the stove and place a rolled chapati on it. When bubbles appear, turn it over and cook the other side. Press gently for puffing. Continue the same steps with remaining dough balls.

4. Making an Omelette

To make a simple omelette, first break two or three fresh eggs into a clean bowl. Add a pinch of salt and whisk them properly until the mixture becomes smooth. Chop some onions and coriander leaves into small pieces and mix them well with the egg mixture. Heat a frying pan and pour a little oil so the omelette does not stick. When the oil warms, gently pour the egg mixture onto the pan and spread it evenly. Allow it to cook on medium heat. Once the lower side becomes golden, turn it over carefully using a spatula. Cook the other side until done. Serve warm with bread or chapati.
