3. BEFORE THE ACTIVITY

Everyday Use

The Polar AW200 Activity Watch can be worn on the wrist at all times. Not only will it tell you the date and time, but also the ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure trend, and help you anticipate any change in the weather.

Measurement of Altitude

The measurement of altitude is based on a simple principle: the air pressure decreases as altitude increases.

For the altitude values to be accurate, it is necessary to calibrate the device beforehand.

Calibrating the Altitude

To calibrate the altimeter, check the altitude against an exact altitude found on a topographic map of the area. You can also calibrate the barometer. If you opt for this possibility, see”Calibrating the Barometer”

1. Access the ALTIBARO mode (Altitude / Barometer). If the mode displayed on the screen is BARO (Barometer), press several times START (Start) for Activate ALTIMETER (Activate Altimeter). If you are already in ALTI mode (Altitude), proceed to Step 2.

2. Press START (Start) and UP (Up) to go to Altitude and CALIBRATION (No Altitude Calibrations), and then press START (Start). The displayed value will begin to flash.

3. Enter the correct height (in meters or feet).

4. Calibration OK (Calibration Correct) appears for three seconds before the display returns to ALTI mode (Altitude).

4. DURING THE ACTIVITY

Start Logging Activity (REC)

Begin and stop logging activity as follows:

a) Hold down the START button (Start) or

b) Press Down (Down) to switch to ACTION (Action), and then press START (Start).

The Polar AW200 Activity Watch begins to record the total time you will be walking. To stop recording, press the STOP button once (Pause). Press twice to stop recording.

If you still have not entered the user settings, the message User Settings MISSING (User Settings Missing) will appear. Follow the instructions on how to enter them, and then once you are in the ACTION (Action) mode, press START (Start) to record the activity. If no user adjustments are made or if the settings are incorrect, default settings are used.

Z

During the first 30 seconds of recording, the device detects movement. Accordingly, the animation icon flashes and does not move across the screen. Action data begin to accumulate in the file after one minute of activity.

Mode ALTI (Altitude = symbol of a mountain)

The trend graph shows the altitude above sea level, the change in altitude (press and hold UP (Top) to switch views), and your current altitude.

gif;% txrplz5%

Time of day and temperature (hold down the button DOWN (Below) to switch views).

2Q ==

Mode BARO (Barometer = symbol of a cloud)

The trend graph reflects changes in barometric air pressure.

Current air pressure at sea level as well as temperature or time of day (hold the button DOWN (Below) to switch views)

The modes ALTI (Altitude) and BARO (Barometer) cannot be active simultaneously. This means that while the trend of altitude is displayed, you are not registering the changes in atmospheric pressure (and vice versa).

Visualize File

During the recording of an action or when the recording is paused, the screen displays the following cumulative values sequentially if you hold the START button (Start):

ACTIVE TIME (Time of Activity) = Time in which you have been really active since you began tracking information. Compare active time to total time to see how much time you have been moving at an intensity level to improve your fitness. This value excludes the time that has passed while walking, standing, or resting. If your watch does not detect any movement for over an hour, recording the activity will stop until you implement it manually.

ACTIVE STEPS = Instead of counting all the steps, the Polar AW200 Activity Watch counts only steps that form a continuous movement of the entire body. Active steps improve fitness more effectively than the steps taken with a very low intensity.

ASCENT (Ascension) = The total vertical elevation which you have risen since you began recording.

DESCENT (Downhill) = The total vertical elevation which you have fallen since you began recording.

You can stop the sequential presentation of data by pressing UP (Up) or Down (Down) at any time.

Z

The Polar AW200 Activity Watch is designed to be worn on your wrist. If, for example, you hang it in your backpack, the measurements can be vague or nonexistent.

Difference in Altitude

To calculate the difference in elevation between two points during a mountain tour, when at the point from which you want to start the measurement,

1. Go to ALTI mode (Altitude) and select Altitude and DIFFERENCE (Altitude Difference), press START (Start), and select Difference RESET? (Reset the Difference?).

2. To reset the timer, press START (Start). To cancel the selection and return to the previous menu, press STOP (Stop).

3. Once you reach your destination, access mode ALTI (Altitude) and hold the UP button (above) to see the difference in altitude since the last time counter set to zero.

T eng to note that the fact start logging activity resets the measurement of the difference in altitude automatically

Par to view the information available in each

file, being in the way of displaying the file information, press START (Start) and then move through the data with the UP / DOWN buttons (Up / Down).

Tota l time hh: mm: ss (Total time hh: mm: ss) = total exercise duration recorded.

On and time hh: mm: ss (uptime hh: mm: ss) = Time spent moving at a sufficient level of intensity.

Act. steps (Steps assets) is related to the data of Activ e Tim e (uptime). Active steps accumulate when the log of the activity is on and you move with a sufficient level of intensity.

Calorie s x x kcal (Calories kcal xx) = cumulative calculation of the energy used during the recording of the activity.

(Ascension) = Increase in accumulated altitude

(m or ft) during registration of the activity.

(Decrease) = Decreased cumulative altitude (meters or feet) during the recording of the activity.

Altitude and MAX xx m / ft (maximum altitude xx m / ft) = The maximum height (in meters or feet) reached during the recording of the activity.

Activit and ZONES(Areas of activity) Press START (Start) to display the vertical bars indicate the time that has been in each zone during the recording of the activity.
