Personal Narratives: Family Bonds, Music Icons, and Life Aspirations
My Godfather: A Cherished Family Connection
My godfather’s name is Fuad. He was chosen to be my godfather long before I was born. My mother chose him because he is like a brother to her. His parents are my mom’s godparents too, so it carries on a family tradition, tying one generation to another.
Fuad lives in the Cordova area and works for a landscaping company. Whenever we visit each other, we have a great time and many laughs. He also guides me, teaches me things, and has been a great role model.
I will never forget the time when I was afraid to go into the lake behind his house. He told me the water was fine. When I entered the water, I felt cold. I could also feel the seaweed under my feet, but I soon grew accustomed to it. We had a wonderful time, especially when I learned to swim. After that, you couldn’t get us out of the water until after dark.
Fuad is my second favorite family member. He has no children of his own. I am not just his godson; he makes me feel more like his son.
Rihanna’s Rise: A Music Icon’s Journey
Robyn Rihanna Fenty was born on February 20, 1988, in Barbados. She is the eldest of three children born to Monica Fenty, an accountant, and Ronald Fenty, a warehouse supervisor.
Rihanna was like any other teenage girl her age, attending high school and loving to sing for fun with her friends. It all began to change after she was introduced to a New York City music producer. The producer, Evan Rogers, impressed with her amazing voice, offered Rihanna the opportunity to record some tracks in New York by spring.
At age 16, Rihanna signed with Def Jam Records and released her first album, which sold more than 2 million copies worldwide. Later, she went on to release more albums and hit songs, including “Unfaithful,” “Disturbia,” and “Umbrella.”
Hafsa Merroune: My Personal Journey and Aspirations
I am Hafsa Merroune, but my friends call me Jade. I’m 18 years old, and I was born and raised in Badalona, a small town near Barcelona. I am the eldest of my parents’ four children. My parents, Mohammed and Yamna, will have been married for 27 years next April.
I study at Enric Borras High School, and my favorite subjects are Biology, CTMA, and History.
Self-confidence is a characteristic that sets me apart from other students. However, sometimes I can be overconfident, which isn’t always beneficial. I enjoy playing football, dancing, and running. I also like to read books that offer interesting lessons, and my favorite book is The Holy Quran.
I enjoy listening to music. My favorite singers are Beyoncé, The Saturdays group, and some Arab singers.
I value building strong relationships with friends. I also believe that friendship is one of the best ways to exchange ideas and other interesting things.
When I was younger, I spent the majority of my time playing football, swimming, and other sports with my brothers and friends. I also spent my summers at sports camps or traveling to Morocco.
During my life, my young aunt has helped me learn some valuable rules to live by:
- You must work hard to achieve your goals.
- You must never give up working towards your goals.
- Anything is possible if you try hard enough.
Now, in my final year of high school, I’ve finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up. You might think it’s a little too late for such a discovery, but I’ve found my career goal: travel. I want to travel around the world, and I don’t mind what job I have to do to achieve that.
Yes, I know that what I say is nothing more than a dream, but I like it.
