- Guidelines for use of Antibiotics in Periodontal Therapy:
- Clinical diagnosis and situation will determine the need for possible antibiotic therapy as an adjunct.
- Continuing disease activity, continuing pocket depths of greater than 5 mm, and refractory and aggressive cases.
- Patients’ medical and dental status, current medications, and results of microbial analysis.
- Microbiologic plaque sampling may be performed.
