Mobile Phones, Smoking, and School Uniforms: Pros and Cons

Mobile Phones: A Necessary Part of Modern Life?

Nowadays, many people have mobile phones. They are becoming a necessary and integral part of everyone’s life, from housewives to businesspeople. However, this is a controversial matter, and it is very difficult to give just one point of view. In fact, if we asked people what they think about it, we would find a lot of different ideas. There are many advantages to having a mobile phone. As long as your phone is connected, anyone can reach you anywhere and at any time. In addition, mobile phones are quite handy in emergency situations, such as when your car breaks down or you have to call the police in a hurry.

The Downside of Mobile Phone Usage

However, we can also find some disadvantages. Talking on the phone in cars can be very dangerous. Moreover, scientific studies have shown that excessive use of mobile phones can cause health problems. In conclusion, using a mobile phone has advantages and disadvantages, but I think that in the long run, the disadvantages of mobile phones are more convincing than the advantages, since they can cause health problems and over-dependence on devices. That’s why we should think twice before we buy a mobile phone.

Smoking in Public Places: A Divisive Issue

Smoking is not only an expensive and bad habit for our health but also something that bothers people in public places. Although I also believe that smokers have the right to have a place to smoke in public places. However, this is a controversial matter, and it is very difficult to give just one point of view. In fact, if we asked people what they think about it, we would find a lot of different ideas.

Designated Smoking Areas: A Possible Solution?

On the one hand, if smokers had a place to smoke, they would not smoke around non-smokers. Therefore, there should be public places that allow smokers to smoke quietly without bothering non-smokers, so they could avoid these problems between smokers and passive smokers. On the other hand, smokers may try to quit smoking because it would be good for their pockets and lungs, and so we would all be much better because, for example, I can’t stand the smoke of snuff, but unfortunately, I’m used to it.

The Negative Impacts of Tobacco

In conclusion, tobacco is said to be very bad for health, expensive, and annoying to people, but people continue to smoke without thinking about it, endangering their lives and those around them. In some cases, this poison should be banned.

School Uniforms: Equality or Suppression?

Wearing uniforms in schools is a measure that works as a method of equality between students, but not everyone agrees with its implementation. This measure has some advantages and disadvantages, which are shown below:

Advantages of School Uniforms

  • Time-Saving: One of the advantages is that you wouldn’t lose time in the morning deciding which clothes to wear to school because you will always have to use the same outfit.
  • Group Identity: If all the students dress the same way, they will intensify the feeling of group unity, and they will feel closer to their colleagues.
  • Security: Also, the fact that students have the obligation to wear uniforms in the center makes the work of people who control the security of the school easier because through this, they are able to identify between people who study there and intruders.
  • Focus on Studies: If students dress the same way, there is no room for distraction in the classroom with things that have nothing to do with studies, such as clothing, because all are equal.
  • Social Equality: But the most important advantage is that it eliminates the differences between social classes. People who have a lot of money can buy brand-name clothes, but there are also people who can’t afford them. If everyone wears the same outfit, then there won’t be any differences.

Disadvantages of School Uniforms

  • Cost: Much money is spent because the clothes that students used to wear to go to school are not the same as those they wear when they are not at school. If they wouldn’t have to use a uniform, they could use the same clothes for all things, which would help them to save some money.
  • Suppression of Individuality: The most important disadvantage is that by wearing uniforms, their freedom of expression is taken away. The way in which people dress is very personal and represents their personality.
