Impact of Technology on Youth: Cyberbullying and Online Safety

New Technologies and Different Forms of Abuse or Youth Violence

New technologies bring many advantages to young people; they allow them to communicate with their friends or family. Nevertheless, more and more people use new technologies to embarrass, harass, or threaten their peers.

Daily, many children are victims of electronic aggression or cyberbullying. One of the most common methods is the dissemination of retouched photographs to ridicule victims. They usually suffer from depression and may even commit suicide. Until recently, harassment ended outside of school, but nowadays, with the Internet and mobile phones, there is no limit.

In conclusion, it is increasingly common that children are threatened or slighted, which can lead to a tragic end.

My Favorite Film: Captain Blood

Captain Blood is about an Irish sailor who is dragged into a life of adventure and piracy by circumstances.

Blood is a doctor, and he is accused of having taken part in a conspiracy against Jacob II. He is arrested and sent to a plantation in Barbados. There, Blood and his friends steal a Spanish ship anchored off the coast of the island and flee on this ship, named Arabella. Blood and his crew become skillful pirates and soon earn fortune and fame. Captain Blood gathers a fleet and attacks the Spanish port of Maracaibo, where he escapes in an extraordinary way.

When William III of Orange is proclaimed King of England, Blood offers him his services and is appointed Viceroy of Jamaica.

Flash Mobs: Fun or a Front for Crime?

Flash mobs, which are sudden dances people do in public places, are currently being used to commit robberies.

Would I like to participate in one? I would like to participate in one as long as its purpose was having a good time, without any relation to the robberies. I think it’s a good way to enjoy, laugh, and even overcome embarrassment because you have to dance in front of many people. Also, you don’t have to worry about being wrong because it is a sudden dance, without rules.

In conclusion, I would love to have this experience someday to laugh and enjoy myself. This is very therapeutic!

Should Teenagers Be Banned from Drinking Energy Drinks?

Energy drinks are alcohol and caffeine mixtures with incentive characteristics such as decreasing fatigue and exhaustion and increasing mental abilities. But do these drinks only have positive qualities? Many studies claim the great damages that these mixtures can cause people.

Daily, more and more teenagers are drinking energy drinks. They alter sleep quality, increase blood pressure, and produce dental problems. Also, if people drink these drinks, they will have more possibilities of being overweight. They are also addictive and can cause dependence. “Energy drinks produce a lower sense of well-being, mood disorders, and even depression,” Dr. Javier Heredero said in a conference.

In conclusion, energy drinks have more disadvantages than positive aspects. That is why teenagers should not drink them, and they should go for healthier drinks.
