Human Freedom and Education: A Social Conquest
The Conquest and Learning of Freedom
One of the classic definitions of the human being is to “be free”. The socialization process is the exercise of human freedom. It can be seen at least two levels:
- Individual level: The ability to act freely is a learned ability. Freedom is not a real property and stable human being, but a possibility culturally created and the fact of living in society. It’s like language. We learn to be free to learn first to control us, obeying. Learning to control his immediate impulses to exercise their freedom.
- Political level: The company offers a conquest of freedom and rights acquired throughout history. The history of human sociability is a story of struggles and victories to make life more worthy. Thus, the rights and liberties won acquire an institutional value, i.e., are guaranteed by the force of the state. Being born in a state that guarantees certain rights and freedoms before they can exercise them, and we have guaranteed. We say that freedom is an achievement and a social debt.
A Slow, Shared Construction
Social intelligence and language are built and slowly developed thanks to the whole group.
The Establishment of Education
There are no born free and intelligent beings, we must learn to be through education and learning. That’s why education is so important to human life. There is no known culture that has not devoted an important place to education. So it should be included among the social achievements. Developed societies are increasingly devoting more resources to educational systems. But when it comes to improving education, we refer to the Enlightenment ideal of power “to improve humanity.” What we are depends largely on education, means we can intervene in what we are, we can choose our life projects. This assertion is based on a common ethical project based on the dignity and human rights. It is a matter of transcendental importance for human life.
The Value of Education
An education for the future must be given to achieve a cosmopolitan citizenship.
