Conversation Examples:
A: ¿A qué te dedicas? (What do you do for a living?)
B: Soy un estudiante del ciclo superior de educación infantil. (I’m a vocational training child minder.)
A: ¿Por qué quieres saberlo? (Why do you want to know?)
B: Si no sabes tu horario todavía… (If you don’t know your timetable yet…) ve a la oficina y pregúntale a la secretaria. Toma este pasillo, la tercera puerta a la izquierda. (go to the office and ask the secretary. Take this corridor, the third door on the left.)
Classroom Management:
A: El aula está sucia, tenemos que ordenarla. (The classroom is dirty, we have to tidy it up.)
B: Primero, limpien los pupitres y pongan los juguetes en su sitio. (First, clean the desks and put the toys away.)
School Facilities and Maintenance:
A: El director está ahora en la sala de profesores, en una reunión. Dile al conserje que hay una ventana rota en la biblioteca. (The headmaster is now in the staff room, in a meeting. Tell the janitor there’s a window broken in the library.)
Outdoor Activities and Gardening:
A: Podemos cultivar plantas en la huerta… (We can grow plants in the vegetable patch…) Está en el patio trasero, junto al comedor. Vamos allá ahora, si no te importa. (It’s in the backyard, next to the dining room. Let’s go there now, if you don’t mind.)
B: El gimnasio está cerrado porque los baños están fuera de servicio, los niños van al parque a hacer algo de ejercicio. (The gym is closed because the toilets are out of order, the children go to the park to do some exercise.)
A: En la zona de juegos hay un tobogán, un tiovivo, un arenero y, si los niños tienen sed, también tenemos una fuente para beber. Como puedes ver, tenemos todo lo que necesitamos en este jardín de infancia. ¿Y qué hay de la jardinería? (In the playground there is a slide, a merry-go-round, a sand pit and if the kids are thirsty we also have a drinking fountain, as you can see we have all everything we need in this kindergarten. And what about gardening?)
B: Pintar y dibujar es algo que hacemos todos los días. A los niños les gusta porque siempre se lo pasan bien. (Painting and drawing is something we do every day. Children like it because they always have a good time.)
Daily Routines and Child Behavior:
A: Después del recreo hay una siesta… (After the break there’s a nap for everybody…) Los niños a menudo se sienten cansados y necesitan descansar. (Children often feel tired and they need a rest.)
B: Jim es un poco travieso, pero es muy listo… (Jim is a bit naughty but he’s very smart…) Liz es una niña tranquila y habladora, muy dulce y agradable, pero bastante llorona. (Liz is an easy-going and talkative child, very sweet and nice but rather weepy.)
Personal Information and Technology:
A: ¿Tienes algún hermano? (Have you got any brothers?)
B: Sí, tengo un hermano, tiene quince años. Ahora está estudiando en el extranjero, en el Reino Unido. (Yes, I have a brother, he’s fifteen. Now he’s studying abroad, in the UK.)
A: Ese es el ordenador de Jack, necesitas saber la contraseña para abrirlo, así que no podemos usarlo. Intenta con otro. (That’s Jack’s computer, you need to know the password to open it, so we can’t use it. Try with another one.)
Problem-Solving and Communication:
A: ¿Tienes la llave para abrir esta puerta? (Do you have the key to open the door?)
B: No, pero no te preocupes, tengo un carnet de identidad aquí y sé cómo hacerlo. (No, but don’t worry, I have an identity card here and I know how to do it.)
A: Te estoy escuchando, pero no entiendo lo que me estás diciendo. ¿Por qué no usas la pizarra para aclarar tu punto? (I’m listening to you but I don’t understand what you’re telling me. Why don’t you use the whiteboard to clarify your point?)
B: Ok, mira, este símbolo significa que los beneficios están bajando año tras año. (Ok, look, this symbol means that profit is going down year after year.)
School Policies and Hygiene:
A: La hora del almuerzo empieza más temprano ahora: los niños tienen hambre a las doce, así que cambiamos las reglas. (Lunch time starts earlier now: the children are hungry at twelve, so we changed the rules.)
B: ¿Por qué no llevas el blusón? A la entrada hay algunos colgados en la pared, con diferentes tallas. (Why aren’t you wearing a smock? At the entrance there are some hanging on the wall, with different sizes.)
A: Algunos niños no saben cómo lavarse los dientes… tendrás que enseñarles, eso es parte de tu trabajo. (Some kids do not know how to brush their teeth… you’ll have to teach them, that’s part of your job.)

Job Opportunities and Storytelling:
A: El anuncio en el periódico dice que un jardín de infancia necesita jóvenes para la temporada de verano. (The ad in the newspaper says that a kindergarten needs young people for the summer season.)
B: Tenemos algunos ositos de peluche y muñecas junto al rincón de lectura, ¿por qué no los traes aquí? El cuentacuentos dice que los necesita para el espectáculo. Cuando vuelvas, quédate aquí y escucha estas palabras: sus cuentos son increíbles. Es el mejor de la ciudad. Nadie puede hacer su trabajo mejor que él, créeme. (We have some teddy bears and dolls next to the reading corner, why don’t you bring them here? The storyteller says he needs them for the show. When you come back, stay here and listen to this words: his tales are amazing. It is the best in the city. Nobody can do his job better than him, believe me.)

A: Los niños no pueden salir ahora: está lloviendo… pero tenemos un paraguas. ¿De qué estás hablando? Olvídalo, solo estoy bromeando. Bueno, ¿qué podemos hacer entonces? Déjame pensar… ¿Tienes tijeras y pegamento? Tengo una idea. (The children can’t go out now, it’s raining… but we have an umbrella. What are you talking about? Forget it, I’m just kidding. Well, what can we do then? Let me think… Do you have scissors and glue? I have an idea.)
B: Si cantamos juntos podemos aprender muchas cosas, así que hagamos un círculo, todos cogidos de la mano. (If we sing together we can learn many things, so let’s make a circle, everybody hand in hand.)
Cleanliness and Storage:
A: Huele aquí dentro. Eso es porque los niños dejan sus zapatillas de tenis por todas partes, necesitamos taquillas lo antes posible. (It smells in here. That’s because children leave their tennis shoes everywhere, we need lockers as soon as possible.)
