A hearing aid is a small device that is placed behind or in the ear. It consists of a microphone, a loudspeaker, and an amplifying microchip. In most cases, it works with a small battery. There are many types of hearing aids, and thanks to advancements in technology, we can find them digital and electronic; currently, they are quite discreet.

If you need a hearing aid because you have hearing loss, you can choose from a variety of ranges. The most suitable one depends on several variables: the size of the ear, the connectivity characteristics, or the power source.

These types can be found on the market: in-the-canal (RIC), behind-the-ear (BTE), and custom.

Inside the RIC are the electronics and microphones that send the amplified sound down a cable to a speaker. Behind-the-ear hearing aids have a plastic shell that sits behind the ear.
