Reading Books: Pros and Cons
Some people say that reading books is the best way to spend their free time, while others claim it is the worst thing they can imagine. In my opinion, there are both advantages and disadvantages to reading books.
The Benefits of Reading
The greatest advantage of reading is that you can learn a lot. You can gain knowledge in biology or history and learn foreign languages. Moreover, spending an evening in an armchair with your favorite book can be great fun. You can cry or laugh, become a hero, or fall in love. Everything is possible. Furthermore, when you read, you develop your imagination and become a more creative person.
The Drawbacks of Reading
On the other hand, there are some drawbacks to reading books:
- Health: Spending a lot of time reading is bad for your eyes and your spine.
- Social Impact: Sometimes people read too much and struggle to return to the real world, leading to problems with social relations.
- Content: Not every book is appropriate. Some are full of violence and can cause aggressive behaviors.
To sum up: Although reading is great fun and educational, it can sometimes be unhealthy or even dangerous.
Sample Letter: School Event
Hi Tom,
I hope you are well. I want to tell you about the school Easter event that I helped organize.
The artistic part of the event featured a school choir singing Easter songs, a short play prepared by students, and a dance performance. Many people watched and enjoyed it.
My role involved helping to organize the event, selling tickets, and checking that everything was ready. We faced a challenge when the sound system failed the day before, but we solved it by borrowing equipment from another school.
We are donating the ticket proceeds to a local children’s charity, which I think is a great idea. I am happy the event was successful.
Take care,
XYZ
