What is Communication? Features of Communication
According to W.H. Newman and C.E. Summer, communication is an exchange of facts, ideas, opinions, or emotions by two or more persons.
Features of Communication
- It is a Dynamic Process: Communication is a process whereby information is encoded and imparted by a sender to a receiver via a channel/medium. The receiver then decodes the message and gives the sender feedback. Communication requires that all parties have an area of communicative commonality.
- It is a Continuous Process: Communication is a continuous process by which we can communicate with various persons through the same process. It assigns and conveys the attempt to create shared understanding.
- It is Systematic and Universal: Communication is a systematic and universal process through which people from various corners of the world can communicate systematically without any disturbance. Through modern devices, official people can communicate among their various branches all over the world at a time.
- It is an Unavoidable Process: Communication is an unavoidable process. The evaluation of a good visual design is based on measuring comprehension by the audience, not an aesthetic or artistic preference. There are no universally agreed principles of beauty and ugliness. There exists a variety of ways to present information visually, like gestures, body language, video, and TV.
