Dragon NaturallySpeaking Voice Commands
“To Bed”
Making the microphone temporarily stop listening.
“Business”
Reviving the microphone when paused.
“Off Mic”
Turn off the microphone. (You can turn it back on by voice.)
“New Line”
Press the Enter key once.
“New Paragraph”
Press the Enter key twice and type the following word capitalized.
“Tab Key”
Press the Tab key.
“Spacebar”
Press the spacebar.
“Partner Without Economic Space”
Do not put a space before the next word. In this example, socioeconomic status.
“Activate Without Space”
Stop putting spaces between words.
“Off Out of Space”
Put spaces between words.
“Mark Was a Dark and Silent Night”
Select text saying the whole phrase.
“Mark Was Silent Until”
Select text saying the beginning and the end of the sentence.
“Mark Dark”
Select a specific word.
“Mark It”
Select the last thing you said.
“Repeat Check”
Select another instance of the same text.
“Flag This”
Select the last thing you said and display the list of quick correction. (Option must be enabled to mark text commands open the Quick Fix.)
“Fix It”
Correct the last thing you said or selected text.
“Correct Canopy“
Correcting a word or specific words. In this case, canopy.
“Spell It”
Correct the last thing you said or selected text spelling. Use this command in the Quick Fix table if the correct word is not listed.
“Initial Capital Letters Spelling Coral”
Write a word spelled. In this example, Coral.
“Putting Accent to As“
Emphasizing a word when it was recognized as unaccented. In this example, how.
“Remove Comma After”
Quit the emphasis to a word when it was recognized as accented. In this example, as.
“Delete That”
Press the Delete key.
“Back”
Press the Backspace key.
“Back 5“
Press the Backspace key from 1 to 20 times. In this example, 5 times.
“Undo That” or “Undo Previous Action”
Undo the last action.
“Continue from Globalization“
Replace the text after the word or words given to what is going to dictate. In this example, from globalization.
“Scratch That”
Delete the last thing you said or selected text. You can say this command up to 10 times.
Scroll Through a Document
These commands move the cursor to where you inserted the text next to dictate or write.

Use these commands to cut, copy, and paste into documents:
- “Cut it”
- “Copy that”

Basic Formatting Commands
- “That Boldness” Apply bold.
- “That Italic Font” Apply italics.
- “Emphasize That” Apply underlined.
- “That Source Strikethrough” Apply strikethrough.
- “Restore it,” “That Source Raw” or “That’s Normal Source” Delete selected text format.
- “That Align Left” Align text left.
- “That Align Right” Align text right.
- “Center it” Center the text.
- “Change that to Letters” Convert a number (as 102) to text (one hundred and two).
- “Change that to Digit” Convert text (such as nine) to numeric format (9).
- “Enable Numeric Mode” or “Skip to Numeric Mode” display to Dragon NaturallySpeaking to recognize the dictation as numbers and write them as numerals.
- “Disable Numeric Mode” or “Exit Number Mode” Back to normal dictation of text and numbers.
Play the Dictation and Text Reading
Some editions of Dragon NaturallySpeaking allow playback of dictation. Also, in some editions, you can install the option Text-to-speech reading texts. If you have these features, use the following commands:
- “Play it”
- “Read line”
- “Read paragraph”
- “Read screen”
- “Read document”
- “Read window”
- “Read from here”
- “Read hitherto”
Working with Email
The commands described below work in supported e-mail programs. You can also use text editing commands for working regular with the text entered.
Login Email Program
Say “Start Mail” to launch your default email program.
Working in Email Programs
Use the following commands to search, open, and create messages:
- “Check Mail” or “Check for New Mail” Check for new messages in the Inbox.
- “Launch Mail” Open the mail message selected.
- “New Mail” or “Create Mail” Creating a mail message.
Control the DragonBar
These commands allow you to control the DragonBar and access help from Dragon NaturallySpeaking:
- “Click NaturallySpeaking” or “NaturallySpeaking” Open the menu bar DragonBar NaturallySpeaking (or DragonPad).
- “Click Users” or “Users” Users Open the menu bar DragonBar.
- “Start DragonPad” Start DragonPad word processor.
- “View Help” Display online help of Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
- “What I Say” or “View List of Commands” Show the list of commands.
Login, Change, and Quit Programs
Use these commands to start and exit programs, and also to change the active program:
- “Start Calculator” Start a program or document in the Windows Start menu or on your desktop. In this example, the Calculator program.
- “Start Mail” Launch your default e-mail program.
- “Click on the Start Menu” Open the Windows Start menu.
- “Switch to Microsoft Word” switch to another program or active document. In this example, Microsoft Word. The name of the program or document should be equal to that appears in the title bar.
- “Switch to Next Window” switch to the next open window on your screen.
- “Switch to Previous Window” Switch to the previous open window on your screen.
- “Click Close” Close the window or running program.
Control Programs
The following to control the operation of programs:
- “Format” or “Click Format” Click on a menu, button or control. In this example, Format.
- “Cancel” Close an open menu.
- “Go to the Next Tab” Click the next tab in a dialog as a property sheet.
- “Go to Previous File” Click on the previous tab in a dialog box.
- “Click Maximize” Maximize the active window to fill the entire screen.
- “Click on Close” Close the active window to the taskbar.
- “Click Restore” Restore a maximized window to its normal size.
- “Click Close” Close the active window.
Check the Keyboard
Say “Press”, “Push” or “Write” by the name of the key or keys you want to push.

Notes
- You can say “Press”, “Push” or “Compose” followed by any combination of modifier keys (Shift, Control, Alt) and any letter, number, symbol, arrow, and so on.
- You cannot cancel the push of a button saying “Delete that.”
Move and Click with the Mouse
These commands allow you to move and click with the mouse:
- “Mouse”
