Anatomy of the Urinary and Reproductive Systems

ITEM 7 Parts of the Urinary System

Secretory (Kidneys)

: produces and secretes urine

Excretory

: expels urine out of tissues

Tips on Kidney Tissues

: medullary fibrous tissue is composed of native tissue and supporting tissue filler

Adrenal Glands

: located on the sup limb of the kidney, no renal function

Medulla Composition

: Pyramids of Malpighi are rectangular spaces within the kidney formed by tube straight uriniferous peeking into a pore

Cortical Substance Structures

: Ferrein Pyramids rest on the pyramids of Malpighi, formed by extensions of uriniferous stas

Columns of Bertin

: Prolongations of cortical substance to the renal sinus

Malpighian Corpuscles

: Formed by one capsule (Bowman’s) and 1 vascular pole and one urinal

Urinary Kidney

: found within the kidney and includes chalices and renal pelvis

Bladder

: musculomembranous receptacle that holds urine until urination

Urethral Elements

: fibromuscular conduit for urine passage

Male and Female Urethra

: urinary and ejaculatory channel in men, urinary duct exclusively in women

Vascularization of the Kidney

: essential for blood cleansing

Male Genital Organs

: testes, ductus deferens, seminal vesicles, ejaculatory duct, urethra, penis, prostate, Cowper’s gland

Male Reproductive Anatomy

: external, internal, and new external portions

Testicles

: male sexual apparatus glands with anatomic fibrous covering

Ejaculatory Canal

: from the union of vas deferens and seminal vesicle to the penis

Penis Anatomy

: erectile cavernous bodies, corpus spongiosum, mechanical process of erection

Prostate Gland

: organ beneath the bladder, shaped cone

Cowper Gland

: pea-sized gland located behind the urethral bulb

Female Genitalia

: internal and external genitalia

Ovaries

: essential organs of the female sexual apparatus

Ovarian Constitution

: medulla, Graafian follicles, interstitial gland

Uterine Tube

: channels attached to the ovary

Uterus

: muscular organ with anatomic constitution

Uterine Ligaments

: peritoneal, muscular, mucosa layers

Vagina

: cylindrical musculomembranous structure

External Genitalia

: vulva, clitoris, vaginal bulbs, gland function
