A Driven Student’s Path to Corporate Law and Business

My Journey: From Vocational Training to Global Aspirations

Hello, my name is Liliana. I am 20 years old and originally from Ecuador, but I have lived in Spain since I was a child. Recently, I finished my vocational program in Administration and Finance. This course provided me with a strong foundation and a unique opportunity to participate in the Erasmus+ program.

Erasmus+ Internship in the Netherlands

Through Erasmus+, I completed a three-month internship in the Netherlands at a company that sells jewelry and various types of leather, such as round and flat leather. I worked in the marketing department, but my responsibilities were diverse. My daily tasks included:

  • Creating invoices and proforma invoices.
  • Assisting the accounting team with their duties.
  • Managing the company’s social media presence.

This experience was incredibly valuable. I used English in all of my daily tasks—communicating with clients, collaborating with coworkers, and participating in meetings—which significantly improved my language skills. It also demonstrated my ability to adapt to different situations and my enjoyment of facing new challenges.

Academic Achievements and Teamwork

During my vocational course, my team and I developed a complete business idea. We prepared the accounting, marketing plan, HR strategy, and projected benefits for the first few years. At the end of the project, we had to present and defend our plan. Out of seven groups, ours won the competition and received a diploma. This experience made me realize that I enjoy working in teams and presenting ideas.

Why I Chose ESADE for Business and Law

I want to study at ESADE because I am interested in both business and law. Before high school, I was curious about criminology but was unsure about my academic path. After completing the vocational course, I realized that I enjoy working with people and using and improving my English. My goal is to become a corporate lawyer and help others as much as I can.

Perspectives on Modern Challenges

The Role of Technology in Society

Nowadays, technology is an integral part of our everyday life. We use it for everything: studying, working, communicating, shopping, and more. I believe technology has many positive aspects. For example, we can now study from home, use online tools to learn faster, and connect with people from different countries. Artificial intelligence is also becoming very popular, helping companies, doctors, and even teachers.

However, I also think there are some problems. Some people use technology excessively and forget how to communicate face-to-face. It can also be a source of distraction. In my opinion, we should learn to use technology in a balanced way. It can help us a lot, but we need to control how much time we spend online. I know technology will be a significant part of my future career in law and business, which is why I am committed to using it in a smart and responsible manner.

Environmental Responsibility and Action

The environment is one of the most important things in our lives. Without clean air, water, and nature, we cannot live well. Sadly, today we face many environmental problems like pollution, climate change, and plastic waste. I believe that we all have a responsibility to help protect the planet.

There are several things we can do:

  • Recycle and reduce the use of plastic.
  • Walk more, take public transport, or use bikes to reduce air pollution.

Governments and schools should also teach people about this. When I did my Erasmus internship in the Netherlands, I saw how much people cared for the environment, which made me think about how I can contribute too. I now strive to be more mindful and responsible. In my opinion, small actions make a big difference. If we all work together, we can protect the Earth for future generations. We only have one planet, and we must take care of it.

Future Goals and the Importance of Education

In the future, I want to become a lawyer and work in a company. My vocational course in Administration and Finance taught me about accounting, marketing, and business operations, while my Erasmus internship provided hands-on experience with invoices and social media management in an international setting. That experience helped me grow a lot, making me feel more confident and motivating me to continue studying. Now, I am sure I want to focus on business law to help companies solve legal problems.

I also find criminal law interesting, stemming from my earlier interest in criminology. I still enjoy understanding how people think and why they commit crimes.

I believe ESADE can provide the education I need to become a well-prepared professional who can work in international companies or even start my own business. Education is crucial in life; it helps us understand the world, find good jobs, and become better people. For me, education is not just about memorizing facts but about learning how to think critically, work in teams, and grow personally. My internship was a testament to this, as it taught me independence and cultural adaptability.

In my opinion, schools should prepare students for the real world by teaching practical skills, emotional intelligence, and collaboration. Learning English is also essential today, as many jobs require it and it opens doors to new experiences. That’s why this summer I plan to take English courses and continue learning. I believe education is the key to a better future.
